CAP (College Audition Process) Auditions are in November in Atlanta. Has anyone used them before and attended the auditions? Do people get offers from there?
Hey @MTDad2024 - I dug around a little and it looks like several Atlanta area coaches and programs combined forces to put together the CAP Unified Auditions in 2018. The list of schools that attended looks great but the auditions weren’t ever mentioned on this board. I would call around some of the “bigger” programs and see if they will attend again this year. Some of the schools listed as 2018 attendees were CCM, Penn State, Wright State, Rider, Shen Co, Viterbo… I think a phone call to a couple would give you some sense of how successful their first year was.
The schools mentioned will have both live auditions and pre-screens at CAP the weekend before Moonifieds. To find out which schools are doing what, I would suggest you reach out to the CAP contact found on their website.
Check CAP’s social media - they have been posting schools that are participating in their auditions this year. It’s probably on their website (I haven’t looked!) I also saw a post stating “90% of the CAP Class of 2019 had offers from a CAP UA school. Many of them had multiple offers.” On IG, and FB you can see where the CAP kids were accepted - lots of great schools. We did not use them, but used Dave Clemmons when D1 auditioned (she’s an MT BFA alum) and loved him.
The reason I would call a couple of the schools and not CAP is that 2018 was their inaugural “unified audition” year. There were a lot of great schools attending last year so the question is - was it worth it for them? If the auditions were overall a fruitful experience for the schools, they’ll be back. The event organizers are always going to say that it was highly successful but the proof of that is how many of the attending schools have committed to returning this year. You can’t really tell based upon alumni schools how helpful the CAP audition was as they might have gotten those offers from other auditions.
Of course, it’s a personal decision - if you’re already located in Atlanta it may be so convenient to have local unified auditions that you’ll want to go regardless of who will be there or how well it’s run!
The top schools that were there last year have all committed to coming back. In fact schools like PSU have been added since last year.
Thanks for all the feedback. Will be making a few calls and to look into Moonifieds as well.
