I have stickers for five universities on my back windshield- three kids went to three different universities, two so far have gone on to graduate school.
I tell my friends, yeah, the car was expensive but the windshield cost A FORTUNE!

No stickers (of any type) on any of our vehicles.
I have a decal on my rear window as do zillions of other people in NY.
I have a metal Longhorn emblem on my car - burnt orange, of course.
Hmm, maybe I should get a decal for the American University of Beirut! That would start some conversations.
The car we had while our kids were in college had their high school and college (same for each) decals. Since that car died, we have our own low-key college bumperstickers, but not our kids’. No graduate schools either – not theirs or ours.
The car I drive is a small masterpiece of humblebrag: a residential college coat of arms that hardly anyone but a fellow alum would recognize, and seven years’ worth of resident parking/dump stickers from the Cape Cod town where my wife owns a house as trustee for herself and her siblings.
My license plate holder is from my alma mater and I have a sticker from each of my (2) kids schools. I don’t want to identify the 3 schools but I am very certain I have the only vehicle sporting that particular combination of schools!
I have stickers on the back on our whale of an SUV for sports thingy, high school and college. Figure people see them and know not to rob me cause I certainly can’t have a penny in my pocket with those expenses.
Actually what is fun is whenever you are driving around the country someone inevitably honks and gives us the “fight on” (you know that USC thing that annoys a lot of people) sign. Also always starts up a fun conversation at a trail head or Christmas tree farm with families from same school and even rivals.
^Now you’ve got me curious, @FallGirl! I imagine UT and AUB stickers are sported on some cars, because a lot of Lebanese students come to UT for grad school.
“The car I drive is a small masterpiece of humblebrag”
I love it. The ultimate is to have stickers so exclusive that no one knows what they are.
Similar to a friend who goes to great pains to get his custom shirts monogrammed tone-on-tone in a discretely obscure spot. His monograms are so classy that they are invisible!
I have the college logo ( A - Alabama) on my front license plate. I’ll do the same when my other son is in college next year. We are from Ks. Most likley a border plate in the back for 1 school and front plate for the other. Our garage fridge is also full of magnets or logo stickers of all the colleges we have visited and favorite teams. I also get some sort of t-shirt or hat from each school that we have visited. Same for my boys. We love it !
@Lindagraf “hubby won’t allow anything on the nice car:-)”
I’d be interested to see what he would do if his daughter just came home and put the magnet on his car, then proudly announced that she had brought him home “a gift” from college.
Dad’s do not like to disappoint their daughters. That is what happened to me, and the magnet it is still there.
This is why I don’t drive new ‘nice’ cars that I’m scared to death of being damaged. Have decals from HS, and all the kids’ schools.
Absolutely have the school magnets on the car: kids’ elementary/middle school, high school, college and away camp. I recycle them to the back fridge when they get too old. I do not have my own college etc… on there though, at least since I was 25 or so. We have a big house flag for D15’s college as well, though that only gets flown on big football weekends, to welcome her home, or when we host a party for her college.
Nope. No stickers or magnets for anything.
Sometimes people do mess with my car magnets, though not in a damaging way. More in a playful way. The HS my boys go to (and where I went, and their uncles went, and their grandfather went, etc…) is at the epicenter of an intense rivalry with 4-5 other local, all boys Catholic schools. On several occasions I have come out to my car to find the letter magnet for the HS turned upside down. I find it pretty funny actually.
I don’t want to put decals on my car. Our D’s college bookstore does sell what are purported to be “removable” decals that supposedly come off when you blow hot air on them with a handheld hair dryer.
For the time being, I have our D’s college license plate frames on my car, both front and back. My wife doesn’t want any college bling on her car.
Our D’s college bookstore also sells magnets, but they are either very small (refrigerator magnets) or very large. Ideally, it would be nice if they would also sell some that are about 4 inches, but not larger than 5 inches wide.
Since all of our family attended or are currently attending the same uni and my wife even works there, we put the various department stickers on our cars (engineering, business, nursing, etc.). We might add a different uni for grad school when a family member finishes. The HS and middle school stickers are long gone along with our trusty minivan. I’m still looking for a metal license plate holder that doesn’t corrode in the winter.
no decals but I did get shirts at the places we visited so I can look intellectual at the gym, as stradmom put it.
