should i bring a car or bike to college? wut are the dis. and advantages?

Not to be too sarcastic - but how on earth do you expect advice on that? There are some places where I just would not recommend being without a car if you can help it, and there are other places where a car would be a hassle and a nightmare.

IMO, the primary advantages/disadvtanges entirely depend on where you are living. Rural North Dakota? Bring a car. NYU? Bike so you don't have to figure out how to deal with a car in Manhatten.

Close to home? Bike - removes the temptation to go home while you are adjusting to school. Other coast? Less important.

How much money do you have to insure the car? Your insurance company might charge you more to have it out-of-state. Parking passes range from $25 to well over $500.

Are you the type that can't say no to requests to borrow it?

Is the campus dead on weekends? Are you in the suburbs, near a city, where a car would give you freedom that the shuttle bus doesn't?

GF, it depends on where you are going. There are some places where I feel that a bike would be a much better alternative to a car. Take UT for example. Really, I'm sure having a car would be a very good idea if you were the perfect driver.

Just go to the campus and see.

what school are we talking about?

yea it depends on the school you're going to. I go to a school thats has a walking campus so a bike is better than a car. However I've seen schools that were built smack in the middle of a city and in that case a car might be better.

car cause you could always sell the car for a bike and have extra $$$ in hand

Bike! Better for you and better for the environment.
