Card games, anyone?

So the minesweeper thing sorta triggered stuff, and I'm really interested to see the depth, variety, and caliber of card game experience that people have on here, since I've always been fascinated by cards (I even used to do magic tricks that are slightly intermediate to advanced, but that's not the point...)

By card games I'm referring to the games played with a standard deck of cards, such as poker.

I'm sorta big on card games, as I'll be seen playing them quite occasionally. I've played a lot (although not exhaustive, by any means, considering how many games and variations are out there) of them, ranging from BS to poker to Egyptian War (to go fish), so I won't list them all.

I play whatever my friends want to play, I usually play at school during free time in classes and occasionally during lunch, and other times whenever I'm bored and have nothing better to do. Mainly, I like to play comparative style games such as Big Two (pusoy), poker (Hold'em), baccarat (I suck at this one though, just picked it up but it's interesting), and so on. I'll play them for fun usually, but sometimes it gets heated such as a full-on poker night with chips and it can go for hours and hours.

I don't consider myself a huge gambler, but my friends and I will throw in a couple bucks here and then for incentive and more fun. I am considering casinos when I'm...of legal age, although once again, I play more for the recreational, fun aspects rather than trying to win money (it's an additional bonus).

I could say more, but atm I'll suffice with a quick post.

EDIT: I mean I left out a lot since it's a quick post, but my sincerest apologies to any aficionados out there for leaving out Blackjack. ;)

I play go fish…

Scum/Presidents is a good one.

Gold is fun…

Ya… I’m not big on card games.

Zap likes playing cards.

I normally plays BS, capitalism, and go fish.

There is also this one called cops and robbers, but I haven’t played that one anytime recently.

The first time I played BS at school, I won because nobody could imagine that I would try to cheat. LOL.

People at my school like to play Egyptian Rat Screw (though they call it Slapjack) and Pusoy. When I go on vacation with my family and we end up playing cards, we often play Hearts and Old Maid. I also play speed with my brothers/cousin when we’re at family reunions.

Are Egyptian Rat Screw and Slapjack the same thing?

No, but Egyptian Rat Screw and Egyptian War are. (I’m in a hurry, sorry. See wikipedia for full explanations).

Oh ok.

10char

Some of my lovely friends at school and I used to play cards during school ALL. THE. TIME. Egyptian War, Blackjack, poker, BS, speed, spoons, etc. We play everything that we can think of that all of us know how to play. lol.

Egyptian War, Blackjack, poker, BS

I LOL’d. Out of all, you??

And oh yeah, I forgot speed. I dominate in that game.

Haha I love playing cards, used to play a lot…although I don’t play too often anymore. Some of my favs are Spit, Chinese Spit, Blackjack, BS, Poker, Hearts, War and omg Scum.

And wow, ironically I just learned how to play spoons on Friday…awesome game…lol

My favorite is Shanghai rummy, though I do enjoy the original as well.

mao is a good one

Texas hold em ftw

SpoonS invoyable.

at lunch, i play rummy, egyptian war, slapjack, Napoleon, Texas Holdem, and Big 2 ftw.

I like cards but I’m not hardcore at all. Spoons is awesome and I blow at BS, those are the two games I usually end up playing. But I know a few other simple ones poker, blackjack, etc. nothing out there.

THERE IS THIS ONE GAME, however, that I always try to get people to play with me but for some reason they never understand the rules. It is the most fun card game I’ve ever played. It’s called 99. Here are the rules. I hope to spread this game somehow across the nation.

Five cards are dealt. This game works well with multiple decks. The game play is play a card and pick one up from a draw pile. When the draw pile is gone, shuffle and flip the played card file. One rule is that if you forget to take a card and someone plays first you lose a card and have to play with one down. Anyway, here’s the object of the game. All played cards are “added up”. Aces can be played as ones or elevens. The value of the pile cannot be put over 99. If a player has no choice but to do this, they lose. The strategy comes in with the special cards (this is just like Uno). Sevens are skips, eights are reverse, nines automatically take the pile to 99, and tens are valued at -10. Basically the object of the game is to be able to play the longest.
One other rule is that if someone makes an adding mistake he/she loses a card and is mocked for the rest of the game.

Spoons, Speed, BS, Chinese BS, Blackjack, Garbage, Chinese Poker(IDK? maybe its called Big vs Small), Mao, Goldfish, Slapjack… that’s all.

I’ve played a similar game called 98. The rules are a little different.

Anyone here played idiot?

Chinese Poker, ERS, President, Mao, Spoons
