CARE Summer Bridge at FSU 2013

Hi all.. my son applied to the CARE summer bridge program in Mid-November. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to render a decision once they have all of the documentation? Thanks!!

When my daughter applied they told me they meet every other Thursday and make a decision on all applications received prior to that. Have you checked the portal to see if a decision has been indicated there yet? Also, my daughter applied two years ago so the process could easily have changed between then and now.

Thanks for the response. I check a few times a day actually. I’m praying he gets in. What I’m curious about is if they notify the CARE applicants prior to the regular applicant notification date? The waiting is soooo stressing.

My daughters situation was a little different so she found out on the day they met immediately after the meeting via email. But her Blackboard was updated within a week. She knew way ahead of the normal notification date. But again, this was two years ago. Good luck!!

Hey, I also applied for the C.A.R.E program. Did you find out if your son got in?

Hi, his online status says that an admission decision will be available on March 20th. However, I’m not sure if this is for regular admission or for CARE as well. So, needless to say, I’m more stressed out than ever. I sent an email to CARE asking if that March date also pertains to their admission and am waiting to hear back. I really would like to know with time to plan. I wonder if he still has a chance of getting in… even at that late date.

When did your son submit his application to FSU?

If it was later than October 15, then he won’t get his decision about whether he was accepted until March 20th, which is likely what you are seeing.

Thanks for responding… yes he submitted his app in Early November so I guess its just a matter of waiting. I hope he gets in. Thanks again!

@jannahickey, I had a quick question, I saw on another thread that you stated that you were in constant contact with them (CARE Office). Would it be a good idea for me to call as opposed to my son? He doesn’t get out of school in time to call before they close. I received an email from an admissions officer who’s been the one to answer all the emails so far and he responded to my question about an admission decision for the CARE program being the same as the regular admission decision by saying:

As long as you submitted your FAFSA for 2012-2013 you should receive a decision by the end of this month (January). He suggested submitting first semester transcripts which he is next week, but other than that, what else can I do or say if I call them as his mother??

@HopefulNoleMom, I do believe that it helped when I was in constant contact. One of the foundations of CARE is Retention and if the school sees that the parent is as committed as the student is to getting into the program then I have to believe that holds some weight. Just my opinion…

awsome Thanks for responding. I’ve been sitting here at working wondering… should I call? I am going to call today. Thanks again!

Accepted to care today!

^^^Congratulations-^^^

Please provide your stats and what was offered?

@ilovethe47 I was also accepted to fsu before care I was offered a spot in care along with acceptance from UCF and USF.

So, are you going to which school and why ?

Waiting on Uf before I choose… @ilovethe47

WOAH WOAH WOAH………
I congratulated you on your acceptance to the FSU CARE program because I was under the impression that as a FSU CARE freshman applicant, you had “special needs” that the program would address and assist you with assimilating to college. Now you are telling everyone that you really don’t want to attend the FSU CARE program as UFL is your number one choice….
THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE of those “special applicants” taking advantage of the FSU CARE program and using the program as a back-door entrance into FSU….
It was my understanding that once accepted to the FSU CARE program, all the applicants would jump on this great opportunity offered by FSU, apparently not……

@ gatorphysics either way ilovethe47 would have something to say negative in the end just look at the track record of the majority of their post. I can do nothing but shake my head and stop entertaining ignorance. I often read the post that down every hope and dream of others or just the racial blogs. I’m done with them. With that being said goodluck to every one and explore every option in life!

How did you find out about your acceptance and when did you send in your app ? @sharles733

By email then if you check your status it would be an update on there as well
