I love Carnegie Mellon so much, but it is obviously way more expensive than Rutgers. I want to major in business/econ and plan on attending grad school. Which is the better option?
It could be worth it in the long run. If your into Tepper I would go with CMU, if not maybe Rutgers may be better for you.
MBA degrees are not cheap. I’d opt for the cheaper option.
This is a no brainer, go to Rutgers.
Last year, I had a wonderful opportunity to talk to a CMU graduate. He was adamant that he wishes he would have attended a cheaper college for compsci. He said that the accumulated debt had negatively impacted his life and limited his post graduate decisions. Despite the debt and prestige, he found himself working side by side with graduates of state and community colleges. At the time, he lived in Hoboken, worked in Manhattan, and was searching for a new job to improve his financial situation.
My advice is that the debt matters much more than the prestige. Though I presented you with only one story, the only thing you are guaranteed to have years from now when you graduate is the debt you’ve accumulated.
