My D hasn’t heard anything, she auditioned in January at CMU.
CMU notifies very late in march. Seems like people accepted will get calls a few days before the portal changes (which is a set date and time for all applicants to the university).
I believe the portal changes at midnight Sunday, March 26th (between Sat - Sun). That’s what regular CMU admissions said…not the drama dept.
should be around the 23-25, they’re in new york for showcase i believe
@concernedbaba Hi! Where did you/your kid end up? Also, if you don’t mind my asking, where did you find your monologues for those auditions? I’m searching for some strong pieces and would greatly appreciate hearing what work has helped others to be successful.
In the end, my D selected Carnegie. Great acting rep/training, and dance concentration were the deciding factors. She’s really enjoying herself thus far. That said, my oldest D just graduated from TTS at DePaul, and has already shot 2 commercials and has booked a lead theatrical role at a major theatre house. Most, if not all, of the schools routinely discussed on this site are equipped to ready our kids for success, provided they put in the necessary work. Best wishes to all on this site.
She chose CMU. Good luck to you and yours.
Wow @concernedbaba You have some pretty talented daughters! Depaul and Carnegie are both tops and so difficult to be admitted to. Congrats and glad they are both doing well.
we live in Chicago and my S was just invited to DePaul for after prescreen Auditions. someone just recommended he audition for Caregie… I didn’t think he had even a sparkling of a chance for CMU… looking at both schools, which one seem to be on par for the Acting ? He’s in theater conservatory in a Chicago Fine arts high school
were there any great financial packages for Carnegie ? it really is up there with tuition rates
Last season I only recall one acceptance to CMU on these boards and I don’t believe there was any money involved. They are not known to be generous with the Acting/Musical theater majors.
@marg928 My daughter is a CMU MT grad and she received an outstanding merit award (more than half tuition). We qualified for nothing need-based but no way could we swing that tuition. Additionally, we later learned that she had one of the lower financial packages offered in the class, so I have to strongly push back on your statement CMU is not generous w/acting/mt majors.
Hello everyone! I just curious, for Acting auditions, do you believe that most who were Accepted to CMU were passed through 2 rooms during Auditions? My D felt good about her audition, was asked for a third piece, but not passed to a second room. Any thoughts or facts from experience?
@FourStars My S was asked for a 3rd monologue and then a 4th! He was passed to several people during his audition.
D is on the waitlist for MT/Acting. She was auditioning for MT and was asked for additional material. She was passed to 4 rooms total (2 for singing; 2 for monologues).
