<p>Is it impossible to get an A in Intro to Electrical and Computer Engineering? I really want to take that course but it seems REALLY hard. </p>
<p>Edit: 15-122 (Fundamentals of Programming and Comp Sci) assumes no previous knowledge but requires AP Comp Sci score and some other class. What?</p>

<p>Hello, I recently attended AP/EA in the summer of 2013. I took 15-112 and 18-100 and I had friends that took other classes. First of all, it is not impossible to get an A in 18-100, it will just take a lot of effort. I got 79 on all three tests (3 unit tests), a 90-100 on each homework assignment and 85-100 on each lab. If you take these two courses together, prepare to not experience your summer to the fullest but it will be worth it in the long run. It’s true that we nearly had to work till 12am every night. We had group homework sessions everyday and the TAs were the best help. We had some of the least free time (but not as little as 15-122 and Concepts). The professor that teaches 18-100 is awesome and he curved the class to around an 85 (what I got) as an A. 15-112 requires no prior knowledge in programming so don’t worry about it. Take 15-112 because you learn Python which is extremely useful. 15-110 is coded in Ruby or Perl, I forget which, but either way, they are not as widely used as Python. In addition, there is no need to take physics over the summer, but Calc in 3d is very useful. I ended up getting an A in both 18-100 and 15-112. I did regular decision CMU and got in (I thought early decision was too binding, but nearly all of my friends who did it got in if they did not have terrible grades). Some other info about the intro to nanotechnology class is that it is majorly all dependent on the final exam and a little bit on attendance. There is very little homework in that class but if you don’t do well on one test, everything goes down the drain. Anyways I hope that helped.</p>

I’m planning on taking 18-100, which I heard takes up most of your time, and Intro to Political Philosophy (so that I would have more time to focus on 18-100). I was just wondering what recitation session are? I have them for 80 minutes 3 times a week. And are the 3 hour lab sessions difficult? i’m guessing if a lab takes 3 hours, it could be quite annoying</p>
