Carnegie Mellon EDII (?)

Did anyone apply for the 2nd ED?

I actually have several questions. If you can help me answer them, that would be great.

I heard that the decisions were mailed out last week, but nothing on my status page has changed under the ā€œdocuments sent.ā€ So I suppose what I want to ask is, did anyoneā€™s stats change?

Under ā€œdocuments sent (to me)ā€ it says ā€œTeacher Recommendationā€ on January 2. What does this mean?

Iā€™ll call the admissions office on Monday to see if they can give me some insight, but if someone knows the answer(s) to either/both of the questions, gah, help > < Iā€™m in an anxious/panic mode.

I applied EDII. We are supposed to find out around January 15th whether or not we got in, according to a short correspondence I had with an admissions officer via email. My status has not changed to reflect the sent letter either. Iā€™m going to guess that the Teacher Recommendation was filed under the wrong category, or something, since my status doesnā€™t say anything like that-- but I really donā€™t know, to be honest!

Thank you so much for replying (: That makes me feel a lot better. Iā€™ll still call them tomorrow to see if I can get some new information. If I find out something useful, Iā€™ll post it.

What the crap? Instead of making a new threadā€“

I just checked to see if my documents reflected any Teacher Rec thing to help the OP, but they didnā€™t. Instead, mine says ā€œ02-jan-2009 Early Decision Notification.ā€ Above that in the College Choices status, under ā€œDecision,ā€ it says ā€œAccept.ā€

ā€¦ does this mean what I think it means, since it wasnā€™t there a couple days ago? Or does it just mean they accepted my application for review but never updated that? Can anyone offer some advice here?

I think that basically means U R IN!!!

CONGRATS!!!

btw, did u choose ups to mail ur decision letter? if not, that might explain why u havenā€™t got ur letter.

again !!! Congrats!!! i was accepted to Tepper under ED2 as well.

Above that in the College Choices status, under ā€œDecision,ā€ it says ā€œAccept.ā€

That means youā€™re in! Congrats! You should get your letter soon. Its supposed to come first, but mine didnā€™t either XD

Accept under ā€˜Decisionā€™ means that you have been admitted.

Congrats!

I didnā€™t choose UPS, so that would explain why it isnā€™t here yet. My parents are also out of town, so I donā€™t have the key to the mailbox. AGHGHGHH!

This just made my day! Iā€™m the happiest person alive right now! ANd congrats to all of you too-- I wager Iā€™ll be seeing you around campus in the fall!

It doesnt say anything in the decision box under mine. I should be getting the letter tomorrow, because it takes 3 days for something to get here from pittsburgh.

Im waiting on that deny. (Getting in is too good to be true).

Oh wow, I think that means youā€™re definitely in! Congratulations  I am very very very jealous of you at the moment :]

I also got the ED agreement sent on Jan 2 under the Admissions documents sent category. What does this mean? I havenā€™t received anything in the mail yet.

I called Admissions Office today, and the person sounded unsure, but she said that I could disregard it. Iā€™m not sure if it was a mistake or not (since a lot of people seem to be having the same problem), but unfortunately, there probably isnā€™t too much we could do now.

This is roughly how the short conversation went.

Me: I have a questions about EDII. There seemed to be a teacher recommendation sent to me on January 2.
Her: Give me your name, etc. Uhmm long pause we shouldnā€™t have sent anything of that sort to youā€¦
Me: Is it okay to disregard it?
Her: Yesā€¦I think so.

She told me that we should be getting it in the mail on the 15th because it was sent out last week. Even though according Carnegieā€™s policy, it doesnā€™t upload your status online until 3 days afterward, I think theyā€™re posting decisions in a rolling fashion.

Iā€™m going to wait for the mail though. Too nerve racking T_T

Yeah, I called today too about the 'ED agreement" that was supposedly sent on the 2nd. The woman asked for my name and pulled up my file I guess and said that they have nothing recorded as sent on the 2nd, but something was sent yesterday. Iā€™m assuming she means my decision letter, and if what everyone has been saying about seeing it online 3 days after they mail it is true then i guess I will be hearing it on the 15th.

I just got my actual hard-copy acceptance letter today in the mail, and it contained an ED Agreement form. Maybe this is what theyā€™re referring to?

Accepted. I had low scores, so im completely surprised.

Can I ask you guys which state you all are from? (To those who have already received a notice either online or by mail)

I am an international student. 2080 tepper.

i am curious too about other accepted peopleā€™s stats. i guess, CMU does not really put great emphasis on sats.

Pennsylvania, 1850 (620 Math, 640 Reading, 590 Writing), CIT ECE (Accepted)

Iā€™m from California. ^^ My stats were okay. My SATs and ACTs were very good (2220 and 32, only took each once) but my GPA was a 3.7 weighted/3.4 UW due to some illness in my sophomore and junior years. However, I really want to design games, and I think that the whole notion of a female game designer is a rare one, which might have gotten me in. Thatā€™s what I wrote my essay on. CMU really does look past the numbers. :p
