@TheMadScientistX , no you don’t have to call, they’ll email you. And to everyone who got waitlisted, you still have hope because when the MITES decisions come out, a lot of people are going to drop out of SAMS.
^
Starting to get worried that I haven’t gotten a decision yet, other ppl who applied on the 15th have already heard back. Is it if you finished submitting late at night that determines when your application gets evaluated?
Just call them lol
I did a few days ago, all they said was that all decisions will be out by next Friday at the latest. Not that helpful lol. Also I was counting on finding out about SAMS to tell if I should apply to another program that’s due tomorrow, which I prob can’t do now. Tbh it is my fault for not applying sooner tho.
Yeah, they are kinda discrete about when they are releasing things, although I don’t really understand why. You should probably just apply as a backup option, because SAMS may or may not accept you. You really can’t predict.
@TheMadScientistX I wonder if the waitlist is based off when you were put on the list, or if they determine waitlist positions by how much they liked the application…
@GreatProphecy I think they look at your application in order of when you were wait listed. So if you were wait listed later on, you have less of a chance of getting in than someone who got wait-listed earlier, since more people have been accepted from the wait list and thus there are less spots left to fill.
The wait list is really interesting because that means that exactly half the people in the admissions committee wanted you and the other half didn’t. That’s how people end up on the wait list I think.
I submitted my application to AI4ALL and SAMS late January; I got a rejection letter from AI4ALL, but nothing from SAMS yet. I sent them an email mid-February asking about my status, but I still haven’t heard back about anything yet. Maybe it means they are still considering me…
@TheMadScientistX Where did you find that info?
@frgiven The first part about the order of wait-list I know from the wait-list letter.
The second part I learned from an admissions officer.
@AtWitsEnd i applied to SAMS. still don’t know how i got in i’m a pretty mediocre student
Anybody can answer this. When you confirm your waitlist spot, did you receive a confirmation email or any indication that your response was received?
@Bean_sir I did not. I only received an automatic reply email saying something about the director not being in the office at this time.
@Bean_sir @TheMadScientistX Same here, only got automated email
Oh alright. That’s reassuring.
I am proud to announce that I have been re-re-rejected . Congrats to everyone who’ll head to Pittsburg this summer
Sorry to hear that man :(, good luck in all of your other exploits
@AtWitsEnd thanks dude, hope you get further than I did assuming you hadn’t heard back yet.
@maxiong10 Thanks, yeah I haven’t heard back still but I’m not optimistic.
