I'm a Mechanical Engineering major. I got waitlisted at carnegie with the option for priority waitlist. I'm positive I want to do Mechanical Engineering but may at some point in time want to get my MBA. WPI would be 15K cheaper for me. Where do you think I should go? I know Carnegie has the more prestigious name but is that all it has over WPI in terms of education and facilities in the Mech E department?

No harm in keeping a spot on the waitlist...

True, but I want to figure out if I should go on the priority waitlist (Binding) which would give me a pretty significantly good chance of getting in.

if money is an issue and the acceptance is binding, you may want to think this situation over carefully. wpi is still a solid school for engineering and if its 15k cheaper and money is an issue, you should probably stay off the priority waitlist for carnegie mellon. remember, you can still do the regular waitlist.

I can't say money is that big a problem but it is still something to consider.

Any other opinions?
