Yes, it was a great experience. We learned a lot through the process as well. We are still waiting for an interview date and after that seems we will have to wait until the end of the summer to learn if my son will be awarded the scholarship. Will let you know what happens. Cheers

Interview done, now the waiting continues. Seems like it will be another ~ 2 weeks before the scholars are named. Best of luck to other finalists out there!

When do the results usually come out? 9/1?

We were not given a specific date after the interview a couple weeks ago but one of Bonnie’s blogs mentioned Labor Day as time for selection. Hopefully we should know one way or another this week as the waiting is difficult.

Just got an email, did not get the scholarship. @apollo2 good luck to you!

@BlueWolverine1 Sorry to hear that news. But it’s such an achievement for you DC to come this far!!! You should be very proud!

@sonatarhia thanks, while disappointing we plan to celebrate the hard work put in for the application with some ice cream :grinning:

So sorry to hear that. Celebrate being a finalist! It is a rare honor and it helps your child stand out as one of the top gifted teens in the country!

My DD13 is a finalist as well and we have told her that going through the experience and making it to the finals is an amazing experience in and of itself.

My kid had the same results - congratulations! There really should be a group for the “almost there” applicants. A Salon des Refusés, as it were.

My kid pivoted from the results and started to customize their education more, while exploring more ECs. Hope your guy uses this as an opportunity to thrive on his own terms.

Indeed, follow your passion is important. Use this valuable experience to pause and think what you really want to do and achieve in life, and what is meaningful to you.

I know a number of finalists who went on to do great things and attend great colleges, published research papers, or won math competitions at high school.

How many students have had the experience of attending an interview at 7th grade? Or have explored and written essays on topics meaningful to them?

It is certainly an honor to be a finalist in a national event.
