Carrying stuff around campus?

I just have a few questions about carrying stuff around campus:

1) Do people actually use backpacks? (I plan to use mine for my laptop and books)
2) Speaking of books, should I bring then to class?
3) What should I bring to lectures and to classes, or will a simple notebook + pen be enough unless the professor/TA specifies otherwise?

Thanks for your help!

1) Yes
2) No
3) Yes

Alright, so books are basically needed only to study from by yourself outside of class?

That's what I've gleaned from this forum.

Alright, I think I'm just going to carry around a backpack for my laptop and gear. Thanks for the help.

Don't worry about it. ;)

For most of my classes, I don't need to bring anything put pen/pencil and paper.

I just carry my backpack because I feel all empty without it :(

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I carry my backpack around too because without it, I feel alone, empty, and backpack-less.

omfg, you feel backpack-less when you don't have a backpack? monster

Well, at least I'm not a Camargue horse... which, by the way, is a comment Drew would refer to as being a "non-sequitur."
