Cars and off campus living

Do most people bring cars to Miami?

Also, I will be joining a fraternity, so I will live in their fraternity house sophomore year, and live off campus my junior and senior year. Will I need a car? Will I need to rely on friends to give me rides? (Realistically, how often?)

Or will the bus service Miami offers be good?

Most people do not bring cars to campus, but some do. Most of the men that join a fraternity do live in the fraternity house at least sophomore year. Some also live there junior year as well. You will not need a car to live off campus. Even if you have a car most students walk to class or take the MU bus if it is a bad weather day. The car is good if you want to go to the store or visit somewhere across campus at night. Parking is difficult to find so walking is easiest unless you are visiting a place that has off street parking. D has a car, but doesn’t even drive it for days. That is common.

If Miami is pretty far away from home for you, I wouldn’t bring a car. Waste of gas money, some of your friends will have one. Also, you can only live in the Fraternity house sophomore year if you do not get in trouble your freshman year, so keep your nose clean.

I do not think that you can have a car freshman year. After that, I do not know how to be without. What if you need to go to ememrgency? Most people also work and the shuttle may not be available. then, everybody goes to Walmart, not very easy without a car…
