cars

what percentage of W&L students, especially freshman, have cars? Do the students who don't have cares complain about the inconvenience?

When I visited campus back in February, I was told that many students (especially underclassmen) don't have cars because campus is very walker-friendly and small. I'm not sure about upperclassmen though...

Freshman: maybe 15-20% have cars, it's quite a small number. The freshman parking lot is a ridiculously long walk, there is pretty much nowhere to drive anyway and if you need to go somewhere you can usually find a ride, and if you're a guy - your car is going take some abuse during pledgeship. The numbers steadily rise, it's probably closer to 30-40% for sophs and up to 70% for seniors.

I'm making these numbers up off the top of my head so don't trust them - but use them as a reference.

I complain about the inconvenience of not having a car everytime I worry about finding a ride back for break but that doesn't happen very often and when it has, I have not had a problem finding rides and worst-case scenario I take the train.
