I am an international incoming freshman and after I registered for the international orientation, I got an email that I should select top 5 course preferences. however I can't seem to add courses to my cart. I am wondering if anybody has done this?

How long after you submit your orientation form did you get an email from your advisor?
I am also an international student and i have not heard a word from my advisor.
So i am practically freaking out right now~!!!

I just got back from Orienation session E. It was the last one for non international students. Your orientation will be for only international students.

You select classes that you want on like day 1 and 2 when you meet with your academic advisor 1 on 1, and then after, your orientation leader-this is when you add classes to your “shopping cart/basket”. The third day at 9:00 AM you meet and you draw numbers out of a hat in your group as to which order you will go in to register for classes, or “check out your chopping cart”. The number you get decides how quickly you start using the computers to check out your cart full of the classes you wanted to see if you got in.

For the main classes, they reserve a percentage of the class seats for each orientation session. IE, for the regular 5 orientation sessions they probably reserved like 18% of the seats in each class for each session. I say 18% because then there are the international students, which i assume are less numerous. so they probably reserved like 10% or something for you.
NOTE: THEY DID NOT DO THIS FOR classes like Texts and Ideas. So those are almost all gone and yes it sucks. I did not get the T&I class that i wanted since they did not reserve seats in those classes.

Anyways, just read up on the requirements for the major you want, and decide which Honors Seminar/Collegiate you want to do.
