Also, can Early Decision applicant get put into the General Studies Program?

In that, they're committed to attending the General Studies Program for two years?

I doubt you'll get your acceptance rescinded because you didn't take the AP English exams, as long as you kept your grades up.

By the way, in my experience, unless you tell people that you're a year older, nobody will know or care. Even if you tell them, nobody will care. Cliques don't really exist at NYU, your friends will usually be based on what classes you have and who you live with. For example, my friends are mostly social science majors and law and society minors. And many of them are in the prelaw society. Find a niche and stick with it. The university's too big for you to be friends with everyone.

Yeah, it's been pretty easy. It hasn't been quite as easy for me because I'm shy and I tend to keep to myself a little bit, but if you're outgoing or not shy and seek friendships, you'll find them. People here are generally nice. The other thing is I'm in all advanced classes so in some cases I'm the only freshman in the class. That makes it a little harder because I'm the smart younger kid (even though I'm not).

Yes, early decision kids can be GSPd. If they're GSPd my understanding is you have to keep up a certain GPA and you're automatically admitted as an internal transfer to your school of choice. It's usually a CAS and Stern thing. I wouldn't know though, I'm in CAS.

^^ NYU stopped giving GSPs to Stern applicants this year. It is mainly for CAS, and in rare situations Gallatin and Tisch film studies students.

I think it was mainly because College of Arts and Science was able to fill more spots. However, since there is no restriction there may still be GSP for Stern Applicants.

^^ well, on the NYU forum straight from the admissions officer's mouth it said that they discontinued awarding GSP to Stern, so i don't really know about that one.

earlygrad08: the cliques, in my opinion or a mix of interests, personality types, and the floors that people live on- just the way that cliques everywhere form.
I'm a year younger than most of the freshman too, and as long as you don't still act like you're 7, it shouldn't be a problem.

Just making sure I understand your answer:

Let's say I apply to College of Arts and Sciences this fall. Early Decision. I get GSP'd (not entirely unlikely). I'm committed to attend the GSP program, yah?

no you dont have to accept the gsp acceptance

So... ED isn't binding for GSP acceptances.

Correct?

how are the dining halls if you have special dietary needs? i'm vegan, and i'm worried that all i'll have to eat is limp salads, lol :(

yes, ED isn't binding for GSP

pseudovirus- there are many many vegans at NYU, I keep kosher and don't eat much cheese and I've never had a problem.

"yes, ED isn't binding for GSP"

Thank god.
