CAS orientation packet in the mail today

signups start tomorrow. Can be online via credit card (hopefully w/o surcharge!). it's starting to feel real now. And I'm not the one going to school, it's my son!

wait, so you have to pay for the orientation?

yea, you do. it sucks. its about 300 bucks if i recall correctly.

$ 295 unless you go during Welcome Week (aug 26?) and then it's free. But you'd be missing out on other stuff and you can register for classes at orientation (I think).

so we aren't assigned a session?

could you post the website where we sign up? (or how to do so?)

I'm out of the country until mid June right now so could someone please tell me what came in the orientation packet? Thanks so much.

type "cas orientation nyu" into your google. it's the first hit, how easy is that!

it's all on the website. You can do it all by yourself.

Do I (parent) have to spoon feed it to you? :-)

That website is up there 365 days a year and says nothing specific about what I have to do this year - which is the reason they send the packet. If you don't want to answer my question then don't bother. I don't think you should be very proud of the fact that you're a parent in this instance considering you're interfering enough in your son's life to be spoon feeding him. How much have you let him 'do by himself'?

litterally EVERY word on this website is in the packet.

btw, my son did his own application. Must have been good, he got 120K in scholarships over 4 years. He had other obligations this summer which is why I went to the website to find out the dates (which change every year, but have been posted on this website for some time)

I have other obligations this year as well - I've been out of the country since september 2006 so I was just asking for a little guidance.

sue- i havent gotten my packet! i have googled, and read the website! just wanted to know if it's the same info/more info. sheesh!!!

One piece of info in the packet (this is for CAS), that isn't on the website, is the reading assignment for the summer. Anil's Ghost By Michael Ondaatje. I just ordered a copy for $5 delivered from an online used book sites. There are tons of copies available.

The online registration isn't up yet, I called earlier in the afternoon and they told me it would be up by Monday for sure.

Hey I'll be out of the country from mid June-July, so I'll have to attend the August session. (For anyone thats wondering CAS Aug orientation is 27-28) It is a two day orientation as opposed to the three day orientation in June& July, and I called the NYU CAS office to see if theres anything different. Basically the August students do not miss anything, we just have a more crammed schedule, nothing else is different.
