CAS selectivity

Is CAS more or less selective than the other NYU schools? Or about the same? I know it's less selective than Stern, but I don't know about any of the other schools.

I'm not sure exactly how selective it is in comparison to other schools. I imagine that it is highly selective, because I read somewhere that 21,000 students applied to CAS alone. I'm not sure how many students CAS takes. I'm pretty sure it takes the most of any school...

All schools are about equal in selectivity (so they say). Fall '04 CAS total was 6551. Figure about 25% (1650) were freshmen.

I guess I should have phrased my question this way...

Is CAS harder or easier to get into compared to the NYU average?

The University gives no information about selectivity among the various colleges. Occasionally, the Deans give information about their college. Stern is the only one I know that did that this year -- 1422 avg SAT, 3.77 avg GPA. The "all University" figures for the class of '09 are SAT 75/25 (1310-1440), avg GPA 3.63. So, all we can infer from the numbers is what you already stated - Stern is more selective than CAS. Everything else is opinion, urban legend or speculation. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Edit. Actually, it's a stretch to infer anything until Stern tells us what average they mean when they say "average". Is it mean, median, mode, or another type (of which there are many).

then again, im pretty sure more people apply to cas so you have to keep that in mind too in regards to competition
