When applying to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), is each major considered separately? I'm asking because the essay for CALS asks what has led the applicant to choose a specific major. In that case, would Applied Economics and Management be more difficult major to be accepted into i.e. is the applicant at a disadvantage in choosing this major?

Yes, AEM is tremendously competitive to apply to. Sorry, no backdoor into this major. A lot of AEM students are recruited athletes so for an unhooked applicant, it’s even tougher.

Outside of AEM, CALS in general is slightly easier to get into than CAS.

AEM is significantly harder to get into than any other major in CALS. I don’t know specific acceptance rates though, but I think AEM is quoted at about 10%.
