Hey guys, so after four agonizing years, I finally got all my decisions back a couple days ago and I've narrowed my schools down to two: CWRU and Northwestern.

Now I'm seriously torn between the two, so any advice would be appreciated. The main appeal at Case is the money, where I got the Trustee's Scholarship (~$25,000/yr.) waiting for me. Meanwhile, Northwestern has more prestige, Chicago is 10 minutes away, and it's a Big Ten school, so the atmosphere is like a watered-down OSU (which is good, since OSU is a little too party-hardy for me).

I'll be doing either biological sciences or biomedical engineering with a pre-med focus at both of these schools. I'm not sure what the rankings of these programs are exactly at either school, but I think they're both quite good.

So where would you choose? Any input would be appreciated.

I would do the opposite. Do Case for BME since it is highly rated and they have offered you a lot of money. Leave your options open for medical school.

Go with the money. Keep in mind that in the grand scheme of life, undergrad education pales in comparison to the importance of grad school/professional school. you're doing premed. What matters is where you go to med school and do your training. Look on almost any doctor's webpage, it lists where they got their MD, where they did residency, internship, fellowship, etc. Undergrad might be listed in "other education". And bottom line is if you do well here you can get in to any med school practially. Put a different way, doing well at northwestern or case will offer the same opportunies for med school. I'm a bio major here too, its pretty tough, but you'll have learned something in 4 years.

Case's biomed engg is actually highly regarded and slightly higher ranked than Northwestern's. Case's program is ranked #6 while Northwestern's is #8 for undergrad. I'd say go with the money unless the subjective stuff are very important to you and you really like NU a lot more than Case.
