Hey guys, I just made this chat to talk about the incoming spring enrollment class!
Did anyone signup for Spring? We discussed pros and cons and decided not to go for it. Our main concerns are time shift compared to friends, not a regular college experience, what to do with forced gap semester (not our choice), not able to finish some pre-requisites for some early admission MD programs at the end of 2nd year.
The Spring delay is not a problem, as CWRU offers a boatload of summer classes, it’ll be easy to catch up with others in the class of 2023. Guaranteed housing so that experience remains available. Planning on attending the Organizations Fair during the August orientation week to see what’s offered, and possibly get contacts/ sign up and meet with campus clubs and orgs, so when I start in Jan, I’ll have contacts and activities to be involved in at Case.
I also committed to spring!
Should we start a facebook group?
Also, apparently 72 people were initially offered admission to the spring semester
The Spring students will have advisers (Navigators - https://case.edu/studentsuccess/navigators)
and will be provided orientation through First Year Experience (https://case.edu/firstyear/)
I thought the spring students had their own orientation and don’t go to the same one for the fall students
Yes, they will…they will have an orientation of their own.
When do you get CW Id?
For those admitted to spring, did it say you were still being considered for fall? I got the “part of a select group” email last week but am still confused about what that means. I’m hoping it means we are at least going to get in to one of the two options
My daughter got the Spring offer. Email indicates accepting does not remove her from consideration for fall. Here is what the email said in that regard. We will ask you to accept your offer of admission for the spring of 2020 by May 9, 2019. Accepting your offer would not remove you from consideration for the fall should space become available, but it will secure your place at Case Western Reserve starting next January.
My son also got the part of a select group email last week. However we have not received any updated Email this week.Did you get updated Email this week?
My son didn’t get an email this morning either. (He got the same one your son did last week.) I’m not sure if that is good news or bad. Keep us posted!
Got another email today saying “You are a student we would like to be able to admit” but the wait is now going to be even longer. How can they still be uncertain about the size of the class when it’s way past the May 1 deadline and they seemed so set on making fall offers just one week ago?
@PineappleOnPizza I got the same email…it’s still possible to deposit after May 1st (if you’re negotiating FA, or some other reason). Also, since lots of WL emails are going out, kids are leaving schools that they’ve deposited at to deposit at another school. And, of course, some kids just deposit at multiple places and now need to choose one.
You should only deposit at one place …and then if you want to accept off a WL, tell the first place you are not going to attend and then accept the WL (or opposite order if done quickly)
Hi parents, my S is on the fall waitlist and don’t mind enrolling for Spring. How do we get onto the Spring option? Do we need to do anything other than patiently wait? Thought there was an fall/spring option during the application process. Thanks
If you got the email, make sure you follow the directions and go to Case application website, log in there again (where you uploaded your initial information), and check your status page for the update. You have to click and do things there to get in order to accept the spring position.
Very helpful, thanks a million. Wish they have mention this in the email (s). Will check it out immediately, finger cross for not too late.
