@nursemomma I have the same issue! the page to activate account is not working:(
Hi again, I was unfortunately out of the house when my D found out she was deferred. Thought I’d offer that she has a 1500 SAT (770 m, 730 e), 5.0 w gpa, 3.8 uw gpa (will probably both go up after 1st semester is over), Biology major on application, visited campus on a tour/info. session, went back for an open house and sat in on a genetics class, went back for an optional interview with admissions staff, reached out to a coach about a sport in there somewhere, communicated with her rep, let them know about an award she won in Oct. that was very cool. “Hey Case, my daughter loves your school!!! It has been on her list since she stepped foot on campus, and she’d really, really like to consider it as an option!!!” - Deferred. She is discouraged, and I am very bummed out. She’s done everything she could up to this point. So, we’ll play the “I really am interested in your school” game. - what is the recourse? She’ll do what they want with submitting semester grades, which will be excellent. And I guess she’ll let them know about her accomplishments. Am I missing something here? Oh, and how she’ll have to muster up the energy and conviction to submit 2 or 3 of their scholarship applications which are due Jan. 15th. That will be rough.
Congratulations for those who have been accepted, and way to go with the merit $. Wish it would’ve been my kid.
Accepted with a 26 ACT and a 3.2 GPA! So excited for this opportunity! Didn’t even have the opportunity to visit beforehand!
blessed!
My twins all got in Case. They both got 31,000 Merit scholarship per year. They both got 35 ACT. GPAs are W 4.85 and W 4.62 and many ec’s. Happy for them.
Accepted with 23k merit and total of 62k financial aid!! 91 gpa and 32 act for engineering! Congratulations everyonee!
Deffered. Industrial Engineering/ Entrepeneurship
1400 (740M,660V)
740 Math 2
4.0 U.W. GPA
Son accepted and I’m very thankful as Case is his top choice right now.
1550 SAT (790M, 760EBRW; single sitting)
4.3 W GPA (at application, but less now I think). School doesn’t do UW.
EC’s include Eagle Scout, NMSF, Robotics club, Cross Country.
No interview but we visited the campus in August 2016 and I’m not sure if the visit made a difference. People with similar and better stats have been getting deferred/rejected and people who didn’t visit have been accepted.
S is celebrating bec. he was awarded $33K, but…it’s $10K less than what we got from NPC. so we need to do a LOT of number crunching tonight.
My son just got accepted with 33ACT 4.0 UW and. 5.14 W GPA - Not too many EC - but a lot of time spent on one EC- good essay and recommendations -no interview and never contacted admission counselor or visited campus. Also received $33K in scholarship - feel very lucky !!
Deferred… 31 ACT, 30+ College credits at Youngstown State University with 4.0 in College. High School is also 4.0 GPA, #1 class rank. Eagle Scout, Varsity Sports, Robotics Club, Academic Challenge, Concert Pianist, Community Service. Campus tour and Open House Visit.
I guess it sucks being a white male student. Off to do great things somewhere else. Total BS.
Deferred with a 3.75 UW, 1510 SAT, 34 ACT, pretty decent EC’s
I know GPA kinda sucks, but I was still surprised.
I don’t know why this happened, do you think I’ll get in RD?
I don’t think it’s because I’m overqualified, my GPA is around their average.
so shocked that all of these people with great stats are getting rejected? honestly did not expect to get in (31 ACT, 33 superscore, 3.5 UW, 3.8 W and got accepted with 15K for bolton scholarship). for those asking I didnt really show interest other than requesting an interview which got no response like 2 weeks ago. not sure if it helped my chances that im in state but something they said stood out was that i worked a part time job all through high school
Wow. Deferred. I always thought this was going to be an ultra-safe school. 3.87 UW, 4.27 W, CA, 35 ACT, 8 APs, 4 Honors, AP Capstone Diploma, reasonable ECs, National Merit Semifinalist.
When did Case get this selective? He is in the 90 percentile of the 20 students who got accepted at Case last year from his very large high school. Has it really gotten selective or is it to increase the yield? This is certainly not based on transcripts or test scores.
Accepted w 30k! CA, 3.8 GPA, 35 ACT. No demonstrated interest
@robotmachine, what major? Bio here.
I was accepted into the nursing program with a 1250 SAT and a 3.9 UW. Very weird considering some of the other stats on here. I’m very blessed and thankful I’ve been offered admission though.
@jayparent same, bio/pre-med
Accepted into nursing program with 15k. 1570 SAT, 3.3 UW, 3.9 W. No demonstrated interest though… Still expensive but it’s exciting
ED Accepted!! Nursing, 1280 SAT, 4.05 w 3.9 uw, great essay, great letters of rec, good ECs and lots of volunteering, large public high school, Oregon, 55k financial aid package, demonstrated interest.
A little surprised that I actually got in! I guess I was preparing myself for bad news. Excited to have this whole process over with and looking forward to next fall
Don’t feel disheartened if you had great stats but didn’t get accepted! I’ve been told that Case low key has Tufts Syndrome, where they don’t like people with really good stats. In addition, they may be playing the ranking game, so if your stats are too high, it’s more likely that you will get into a better school and won’t attend, so that means that their ranking would go down if a lot of people reject their offer.
kaec16 I was seeing that sentiment repeated often tonight as my son was trying to log in (took forever!) and wondered if he’d be passed over regardless, or really because of, his stats. Stats are (and I don’t know all of the abbreviations); 36 ACT and also perfect (800? whatever it is) on 3 SAT subject tests, 1580 SAT (first and only for all tests no superscores), 1st in class of 500 at a ranked school, 12+ EC with leadership positions, many (10…+?) AP 5 scores, college math (finished HS offerings so took Calc 3 this semester via a college, arranged by his school) volunteer work, much music involvement (not his major). Many honor societies (nobody mentions those, do those not matter anymore? This is my first kid going to college, been a while for me going, not sure what’s up with that now!) And then awards; school, district, competition; merit and specific to event. So, good stats for sure! And he was accepted by CWRU with a good scholarship. Also, the online letter had a personalized postscript which I especially liked. I agree it does seem so all over the place, though, with who gets accepted or who doesn’t, anywhere and everywhere. Writing this to note that “too high” stats still can work here. (If these are “too high” in your opinion, that is.) So good luck and congrats to all as either applies!
