Here's what I'm looking for in terms of dorms:
-Relatively clean and renovated
-Close to alot of other freshmen
-Close to cafeterias/eating options
-Not too loud, but not too quite either
-Somewhat close to science classes since those will be mostly what I'll take

Honors dorms. It’s very clean, there will be freshman, great study spots, there’s a comp lab in the Q, and Kinsolving Dining area is close, LTD Patio Cafe, the drag, and the Union are all a very very short walk away. :)

If you want your dorm to be close to science classes, then honors dorms are great. However, I really recommend Jester in general because a ton of people live there, it’s really not as dirty and run-down as people claim, and it’s really close to a whole lot of food options. I loved living there my first year, and I’m living there again this coming fall!

Jester’s a bit far from most science classes, is it not?

Jester’s not terribly far from Welch or Painter, which was home to several chemistry and biology courses I took.

What if I am in an honors program but choose to live either off-campus or in Jester? Will I miss out on a lot of honors group activities, socials, or study groups?

As far as I know, you won’t miss out on too much. I think it really depends on how you study best. I prefer to study in my room by myself, so Jester worked well for me (although there are plenty of study spaces in Jester). The honors quad is known for its study lounges and for study groups, if you’re into that sort of thing.
