My friend and I applied to the new Callaway House being built on West 22nd but were told that they were full. We were offered a room at the Castilian but were told that if a room opened up at Callaway we would be notified. I've read several horror stories about the Castilian but also noticed that they were recently bought from Campus Acquisitions by American Campus Communities. Is the new management any good or have they not taken effect yet? Is there anyone currently living there that can attest to the quality of life? I'd really like any useful information that can be offered.

Thanks in advance!

Honestly I have not lived there at the Castillian but I was in the same spot as you were. I signed up for Callaway in early March when there was about 70 spots on the waitlist. I was offered that spot at Castillian and when I visited … I just hated it. Its sure cheap, but the rooms are tiny and just bleh. I hear the food is bad too. The leasing lady told me it was unlikely that I would be offered a spot in Callaway as only 8 people had been taken off the list. Anyways, I toured Dobie and although it wasn’t Calloway, it beat out Castillian, Jester, and even San Jac price wise. I wouldn’t live in Castillian personally, my friend once did and said it was the worst dorm experience, and I haven’t heard anything positive. Although I can’t attest because I haven’t lived there yet. I would just ask for 250 deposit back unless your at the top of the waitlist or seriously considering Castillian. Even though its new management, its probably not going to change a whole lot.
