As a long time cat owner, a spray bottle with water is very effective. But a tree with a cat in it is cuter!
I am allergic to cats, but these photos are adorable.
I have to wonder, though, why they persist – aren’t the pine needles and odd seating angles uncomfy? lol
Cats like to be uncomfortable. Though not as much as they like to make their humans uncomfortable.
With our new cats, we usually put the tree up, hang a few non breakable ornaments, and let them have at it. The excitement quickly dissipates when the tree falls over. Cats quickly move onto new objects.
Didn’t deter MY cat at all!!
I have one water resistant cat, too!
We have a picture around somewhere that shows our 15 pounder sitting in the tree. We now have 2 Bengals, and water is NOT a deterrent to them. If you want a laugh, look up bengal taking shower.
Haha, spraying water definitely won’t work on them.
Not sure if this is true for other cats but our cat will climb a fake tree in an instant and cause havoc. Does not seem interested in climbing into a real tree at all. Doesn’t seem to like the needles. So we have a real tree in our living room and put the fake tree down in the basement tv room.
We put vinegar in the bowl of our artificial tree under the tree skirt and that did the trick. Cats hate vinegar. Unless you were very close to the tree, you couldn’t smell it.
Turn the table on them: Decorate the cat‘s climbing tree instead, and CALL it a Christmas Tree?
If you can’t beat him, join him…or maybe start an Instagram account for the photogenic climber and his hijinks
Note to self…never turn on the vacuum when you’re holding a cat. Fortunately, no stitches required.
We could not keep our cats out of our artificial tree. When we switched to a real tree the didn’t touch it. They likes to lay under it but wouldn’t climb it.
