I recently visited Georgetown, and really fell for it. I loved it! I was wondering if anyone knew if there is any kind of admissions advantage to being Catholic, or even if there's anywhere where one would be able to write that on the app.

I also wanted to know if it’s possible to take classes in other schools while at Georgetown. For example if enrolled in the College could one take a course at the SFS?

According to Georgetown’s Common Data Set, “Religious affiliation/commitment” is “not considered.” See Section C7, on page 7: https://gushare.georgetown.edu/PlanningAndInstitutionalResearch/Public%20-%20Website/CDS_2011-2012.pdf?uniq=-wv5gve.

Yeah that’s what I would have thought, but in the FISKE guide it said it helped.

Eh, maybe they know something I don’t. Surely somebody around here knows more about Georgetown than I do.

It would be great if someone did although that Data Set you posted clearly says that it is not considered, although I’d be suprised if FISKE printed that without it being true.

Based on our S’s experience two years ago it didn’t have an effect on his admission. If I recall right from the admissions talks and tour guide comments, the student body is about 40 - 45% non-Catholic. S and his roomate are good examples as one is Protestant and the other is Jewish. The school seems to pride itself on the openess for all and the wide range of campus ministries. They seem more focused on top performing and top ranked students as nearly half of the their last two entering classes were 1, 2, or 3 in their HS graduating classes. If there is an advantage it is not publicized. Good luck.
