I got a really bad grade on a quiz so i scanned it and edited out all my work and reprinted it. Then i answered it and forged a grade at the top. Then i went to my teacher after class and said that she gave me a wrong grade and showed her my edited quiz. She immediately said that it was a fake and said that she was going to report to the assistant principal and that it would go on my record. She said she was going to keep my original grade instead of giving me a 0. How bad is this? What is the worse that can happen? How is this going to affect my college applications?

I would be extremely worried. If this does go on your transcript like your teacher said, which there is a high probability it will, I would aim much lower than you currently are for colleges. If colleges see a cheating charge, it will jeopardize all of your grades and your academic integrity. Imagine you are an admissions officer, and you see that an applicant cheated. You then immediately have doubts in your mind, question if this student will only bring trouble to the school, and doubt the validity of anything that that student has put on their application. That is the situation you are faced with right now. This was an extremely bad decision on so many levels. Sorry for being harsh, just trying to help.

what is this i dont even.

Yeah, like a person above me said, it all depends on if it goes on your record. If it does, you won’t be accepted to many, many schools. There will be many other applicants besides yourself and the universities will have no reason to take someone who cheated over someone who didn’t.

This sucks. If you live in CA, you could try community college → UC.I’m not saying only community colleges will take you, only that it may be off your record by then.

If it’s on your permanent record, I think it’s pretty bad. You have some serious explaining to do. If you’re a freshman, you might skate by. If your a senior, I think you’re going to have trouble.

You may not get into a college with competitive admissions because they will question your integrity and not have any faith in ANYTHING on your transcript. They would probably assume that you cheat regularly and only got caught once. They will probably believe your SATs since the assumption is those are professionally proctored. If they are really high, and you have explanations you might still do ok.

You will probably be able to go to a college that needs your money and is willing to overlook your indiscretion. There are many colleges that are really hurting financially. Talk to your guidance counselor.
