Caught Cheating On The SAT - Consequences?

Hi, I'm a high achieving student (98th percentile) and I was taking the SAT for the 2nd time. I saw a couple of students around me started working on another section. I thought I was entitled to the same advantage and I did the same. Two question in the proctor comes over and collects my booklet and sheet and tells me to leave. Please let it be known, that I feel terrible. I have never cheated in my life. I made a bad decision under pressure. I'm really really sorry for it. Do any of you know what is going to happen to me? Is the score going to be canceled or will the ETS decline to score? I was working on the 2nd section. Will colleges find out?? Will my school find out? I was taking it at another school. Will this stupid mistake ruin my future? I'm really scared, please give me information.

They’ll cancel your score.

Inb4 WAH WAH U SHOULDNT CHEAT

But seriously… wow, dude, that’s pathetic. Not the cheating part, but getting caught. Just be smart about those things…

Yeah I know it’s pathetic… Has anyone gone through the process?

I don’t understand why did you cheat?

And honestly, I wouldn’t call an opportunity to work on another section a big advantage. Instead, it’s better to check all answer and make sure that there is no careless errors.

■■■■■… how do you not hear the proctors telling you not to do this a bazillion times? Why are you looking at what sections the others are working on? Either you’re a ■■■■■, or you suffer from extreme hearing loss and shifting eyes disease.

dude its ok, they’ll prolly just get rid of your test, no sweat just try again and be smart next time

dont worry, all they do is cancel your score, they do not inform your school or colleges.

your scores will be cancelled and you will most likely have to take the test again. There really are no consequences other than the lost testing fee and a few lost hours on a saturday. and don’t feel bad, a lot of people cheat on the SAT.

Its only cheating if your caught!

Thanks for the reassurance. I dont know why I did it. I guess I wanted to get a better score so badly that I forgot my morals. Did any of get caught? Do you know anybody?

If Collegeboard finds out, they’re going to black list you. Being on Collegeboard’s blacklist will have you screwed for the rest of your school career. That’s what my teacher told us last year during AP Exams. wordd

edit: Lmaoo, I just noticed your screen name. wth

The consequences will never be the same.

Oh dear :frowning: That stinks! So many kids get away with it! I know these two kids who cheated (the girl did reading, the boy math) and both ‘cheated’ each other the other answers. They both ended up with 2350s! Ridic.

Wow, that absolutely sucks (to get caught).

When I took the SAT in January, the person to my left continued to write her essay after she finished the other sections 5 minutes early. The person to my right had a pocket-sized dictionary. At least three other people in the room were passing notes to each other – maybe they weren’t cheating, but it was still awfully suspicious.

What’s even more amazing is this: nobody got caught. I mean, seriously, fail on you, proctor of ********* ****** High School.

I did the same thing but i went to the previous sections because i had a math problem that i couldn’t get out of my head. but my proctor said since i got caught cheating now it shows when i apply for colleges that i cheated. what can i do?

Haha asians are bad at cheating unlike us white folks. But I wouldn’t cheat on the sat cuz your screwed for life now. You should just find a big cave in the desert and live off mushrooms for the rest of your life. You can steal from hitchhikers and play with poisonous snakes. Don’t worry though the world is ending in like a year and a half, but since you cheated you will probably go to hell so maybe the world ending isn’t all right with you.

^ speaking of generalizations…

Dear Cheater, you are so done. The same thing happened to my grandson, and he was exiled to pakistan
