I cheated on the SAT's and I'm scared?

Okay so I know that it was wrong for me to cheat. There’s no excuse. Today we were able to pick wherever we wanted to for the test, and I chose to sit next to one of the “smarter” kids. I usually blank out with these type of tests and I was really tired so I decided to cheat off the person next to me. Keep in mind that all the tests were the same. I changed up a few questions to make it seem I got different answers. Will I get caught? Is it possible that they will either mail me a letter knowing that I cheated? None of the teachers in the testing room saw me cheat. I’m really scared because I don’t want to get caught.

You’re not going to get caught. The thing is that now your test score will not reflect your work ethic and that will eat you up. A second test with a horrible score compared to your first will also look really unusual if you’re going to apply to high end colleges. It’s something you can’t take back so you just have to live with it. If you were caught cheating they would point you out right then and there, so you were off the hook this time, don’t let it become a routine ;))

You should be scared, and you should feel badly. The tests (you and the person you copied) could be flagged when they compare test answers-a reason why proctors document the seating chart. If you manage to get away with this, you should NOT submit this test to colleges. If you do, you will be the type of person that looks to take short-cuts. Lying and cheating will be your way of life. Stop now.

How do you know all the tests were the same? It is common to have different versions of the test in the same room. Same questions, different order.

Regardless you will likely cheat again in college and get expelled, unless you change your attitude.

Don’t remember with the SAT, can you call and cancel your score? I’d do that. Then it is not even available to tempt you to send it to colleges.

Students have until the Wednesday after the test to cancel, so a total of four days to decide.
