I must say so far some of my misgivings about Lehigh (party school, not an LAC, fratty atmosphere, too big, not a lot of Black students) are melting away. My daughter has been contacted by profs in her major, people from diversity life, the director of the program she’s been admitted to. Honestly there’s been more communication from Lehigh than any of the three schools (all LACs) with workable finaid. Maybe it’s the smaller department size and the fact they don’t offer a graduate degree in her major, but she and I are both intrigued and wondering if the Lehigh Valley is the place. Any other parents care to offer impressions thus far?
She’s visiting and staying over 2 nights this weekend, so a more nuanced glimpse later hopefully.
I loved Lehigh. Totally fell in love with everything about the school. I agree that there was a more personal touch. I was sad when my daughter turned down her acceptance. (She’s at the right school for her for sure, but I was more comfortable with Lehigh).
My S is deciding between Lehigh and Gettysburg. We visited both in the fall but are going back next weekend. Lehigh was originally tied for #1, but Gettysburg has been great about contact and reaching out. We have not had much contact with Lehigh since his acceptance except with Financial Aid, which is surprising since my S is URM. I’m a little surprised he was not invited to Diversity Life Weekend (he couldn’t attend anyway, but still surprised he wasn’t invited.) We set up our own weekend with a friend who currently attends Lehigh.
@GFORCE2818 I’d love to hear your thoughts when you get back. S19 is deciding between Lehigh and RIT. Similar to your son, he’s gotten lots of follow ups and correspondence from RIT and nothing since from Lehigh. The cost is better at Lehigh for us.
Sorry, I know I just responded on your other thread but then saw this too.
@drewsmom17 I’ll follow up next week. My S heard from a CSB professor this week. I’ll post about it in the Lehigh CSB post. Does your S have a preference of RIT vs Lehigh?
@ctc I hope your D had a good weekend. We would love to hear how it went.
