this site definitely made me realize my college application wouldn't be as great as I thought it would. I always compared myself to the people at my school, which is a joke. I never even heard of self-studying APs until this site, and when I told my GC I was planning on self-studying 2 this coming year, he looked at me and said "Are you serious, why would you want to do that?"

definitely a motivating site; wish I would have found it sooner.

human geography is a breeze! definently self study, one of those books from borders and about an houror 2 a week total should suffice for a decent grade. I took the class sophomore year, generally just skimmed did the readings, but picked up on any missed info in class discussions and used a study guide starting in march and made a 5 on my test. it was great. it takes very little work to get an extra star on applications and such. the credit may not transfer, but i would assume having 5 passed ap tests looks nicer than 4...

:edit: its also super interesting imho.i loved the class discussions and such. we read this book called "The World is Flat" and it was a ***** to read(the guy is crazy redundant), but it gave a lot of insight to current events and most of the principles of human geography

CC definitely made me realize what I am up against and made me try just that much harder to do really well of SATs, APs, etc. On the other hand, it's made me feel really bad about myself on occasion and can be overwhelming...

While I do agree that the ambiance of CC inspires motivation to improve, members should be cognizant of being overzealous in their ambitions. I found this site during the middle of 8th grade. At first, it inspired me to pursue extracurricular activities and outside interests. By the time I entered high school, I became overzealous about my education that I sought endeavors that would separate me from others in the college admissions process. However, I attempted to do too many things during sophomore year that I simply could not handle everything. Let's just say, by the end of the year, I regretted some of the things I pursued.

CC made me pursue ECs that I wanted. And CC totally discouraged me, along with my friend's friends who made it to IMO, IPho, and ICho. I think that's bad enough.

Yeah, CC was definitely a big motivator for me. It pushed me to do things I never thought I could do. I also figured if they can do it why can''t I? I found out about this in 8th grade by random googling and now i'm so addicted! It made me scared thinking if I could ever be like them but I knew i had time and the top-tier colleges didn't seem so out of reach if I simply worked hard enough. Thanks CC :)

I'm from a town that would rather see the football team loose every game in the season than watch a school play or watch the school debate team win at NFL Nationals. I can't really look to many people at my school for inspiration since most don't care. CC has shown me there are others out there piching themselves. Although a fair amount of parents try to push their children to work harder and take more challenging classes, although the students don't respond to it well.

Haha I'd have to say if I hadn't seen CC I'd never have studied as much as I did for my subject tests. I felt like I absolutely HAD to get 800s on them. It worked :P but now that I'm studying for 3 more I feel overworked :(
