CC book club

I've noticed lots of CCers (including myself) who are really passionate about books and discussing them. Feel freeto post your favorite book/author/poem here and discuss why it's your favorite. You are most definitely allowed to post about more than one book! Let's see who has got similar tastes! These books don't HAVE to be about boarding school, but they can if that's your favorite!

I'll go first.
Favorite book- to kill a mockingbird. I love seeing the symbols come to life and watching the characters grow in a time of such supressance.
Favorite poem- birches by robert frost. Again, the symbolism of the birch trees Is vast and the simple word usage is amazing to me. I've actually memorized all 80 lines of it because it's just that good. Then again, I love all of frost's works
Favorite author- Nicholas sparks. Simply stated, I'm a sucker for love. Haha

Looking for Alaska!

I have too many favorites, but since this is CC, I'm guessing people want something moderately related to boarding school. Alaska is a person, not a place, so you may not be led to believe this is another one of those cheap "LETS FIND GOLD" themed historical books. And the school is a spinoff of Indian Springs :)

Haha the author that write that went to the school right near me!

My favorite is Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five, which I'm currently reading in my history class. Their Eyes Were Watching God is a good one too.. very rich in dialect

ooooh, my favorite books has got to be definately by Frank Peretti & Ted Deker-- but then, I have way too many favorites. Their books scare the crap out of me, & I like how he interwines the Bible into it, although it's really not that obvious. (The Oath by Frank Peretti)
I enjoyed Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte- just amazing- all the symbolism, etc. I secretly wanted Jane to just go with St. Johns to India, but I loved the ending better :)
It's like playing I Spy, seaching for the symbolism & what they mean.

I'm currently on the Private series by Kate Brian as most of you may know by looking at the other posts. :D

Jane Eyre was my favorite book until I started this weird obsession with all of Jane Austen's books. I absolutely love Pride and Prejudice, and Mansfield Park, ahah.

Oooh! Have you read the first book of the spin off series? Privilege? I love Kate Brian<3

Ironic enough, I bought privilege and looking for Alaska at books a million today!

Lol, really? I've been meaning to get Looking for Alaska at the library or something, but I keep forgetting.

I just finished rereading the 10th Grade Social Climber series and the Shopaholic series. I think I'm going to go watch the Shopaholic movie tonight, lol

Where the sidewalk ends -- love that poem :]. I have a thing for Shel Silverstein.

Xoogabyxoo, I have to agree with your post! Jane Eyre was a favorite, and then Jane Austen... Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books, along with The Lovely Bones. But there are millions of good ones. Catcher in the Rye, Harry Potter 1-7 (gotta love the boarding school ones!), Emma, anything by Terry Pratchett, Me Talk Pretty One Day, The Princess Bride, The Picture of Dorian Gray, etc...

eleveedaily, I love shel silverstien! I love falling up!

I really like Scott Westerfeld...

Omigosh, I do, too! The Uglies series was amazing. The inventions were so thought out.. I would have totally wanted to live in that era (except the evil brain chip stuff)!

I hated the last book, though. How come Shay gets to boss Tally around? Seriously..

Blindness by Jose Saramago is my favorite book, I highly recommend it. Gonna go get Looking For Alaska now :)

Book - The Princess Bride. William Goldman amazes me. The book Peyton Place is also really, really good. And I'm reading Angela's Ashes right now, and I really enjoy it.
Poem - 99% of poetry goes right over my head.
Author - Probably Diana Wynne Jones.

I like Fahrenheit 451. :]

I like Shel Silverstein's, "The Giving Tree"
I think it was super sweet... with a rose or something would be amazing on Christmas. :)

What're you guys doing right now? I just ruined my eyebrows... lol, it's so obvious at a glance.

My favorite book is "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer. What an inspiring and life-altering story!!
My favorite poem...that's hard. I really like this one by Yeats, "The Two Trees".
My favorite author is easy: Ann Rinaldi. I'm a total historical fiction fan and I love American history, so she's a perfect fit!

Blindness by Jose Saramago is my favorite book, I highly recommend it. Gonna go get Looking For Alaska now
