CC in Washington State (need recommendation)

I need recommendation for a good CC in Washington state. My goal is eventually transfer to UW-seattle. I understand UW give priority to those students who have completed an associate degree at a CC.

Bellevue College.

At the UW website, if your search for “articulation agreement” you should find information about which CCs have formal agreements for automatic transfer into different major programs at UW.

I have the list. I need recommendation on a few better ones if I want to major in Computer Science or Engineering.

It is perfectly OK for you to pick up the phone and call the major advisor for the department that you are interested in, and ask which CC is sending them students who are best prepared. You also can call the transfer advisors at the individual CCs, and ask what kind of feedback they’ve had from their old students who transfered to UW.

Make sure that you read the MOST RECENT information about the UW’s articulation agreements with the state’s community colleges.

Budget shortfalls have changed the circumstances a bit. At one point a few years ago, the UW was no longer guaranteeing a seat for every articulation agreement transfer applicant. Sure, they are plenty of transfer students at the UW with every incoming class, but it may no longer be the smooth path to enrollment at the Montlake campus that it once was.

Here is the [University of Washington Equivalency Guide for community college courses](http://admit.washington.edu/Requirements/Transfer/Plan/EquivalencyGuide).

Here are the [degree requirements for Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington](http://www.cs.washington.edu/education/ugrad/academics/degree_requirements.html).

Use the equivalency guide to match up courses at the community colleges to courses which fulfill the freshman and sophomore level courses listed in the degree requirements. Choose a community college that offers the best coverage for those degree requirements (if taking courses at more than one community college is acceptable, then you may find that doing so gives better coverage than just one).

Note also for sequenced courses like math, it may be more convenient to choose a community college on the same calendar (quarter versus semester system) to avoid partial course coverage that may require partially repeating courses after you transfer.
