Transfer from Community College to UW

I just wonder if studying in Bellevue College would lower the chance of transferring to UW since it starts offering 4 year degree. Well but there are only like 6 4-year degree program.
Any ideas?

NOT AT ALL!! Go to BC and get your DTA/Associate’s and then transfer! I am in running start and will finish my AA this june, the same time I graduate from high school and I just got accepted to UW for fall 2014!

Tips: take math and science courses separately (dont take calc and chem at the same time)
-Go to class, attendance isnt mandatory for like 80% of teachers but you will fall behind.
-Strive for a 3.8+ just because it really is easy to do it. I got in to UW with a 3.4, but looking back, I know I could have easily gotten at least a 3.6+ if I tried and went to class more, and I’d probably be eligible for scholarships or have easier entry into my desired major (Comp Sci).
-Explore all subjects your first 2-3 quarters and then choose one to major in, and check out “UW Academic Planning Worksheets” on google to find out what the requirements are and then find the “BC UW equivalency guide” to take the transfer equivalent courses at BC so your can transfer directly into your desired major with all of your pre-reqs done.

I like BC and it’s been a great experience, but MAKE SURE you work hard because in a Community College (we, including UW, still refer to it as one because it basically is and always will be) it is easy to get lazy and just keep changing majors. You will find a lot of people in their 3rd or 4th+ yr because there is nobody pushing you there like in HS or at a University.

BTW - if you wanna major in any type of engineering or go to law/med school, do your best to keep above a 3.7 gpa to stand a good chance of getting in at UW. About 3.5 for business, and 3.3 for social sciences/humanities.

Good luck and hope to see you at UW soon!

EDIT: I totally forgot to mention that UW has a legal agreement with the state of Washington to reserve a certain number (a large one) of spots for Washington State Comm College transfers (including BC) so that’s another reason why it is the BEST WAY to get into UW. :D

Seconding what NinRash said…as far as I’m aware, UW considers Bellevue a community college, and it’s just as easy to transfer in from there as from any other Washington State CC.

:D I truly appreciate you guys reply. Thanks so much !!!

AFAIK, UW sets aside 30% of its yearly “spots” to in-state CC transfers. The most CC transfers to UW come from BC.
