I know this doesn't apply to most of the people on here, but a cool thing that the parents did my plebe year was have a CC meeting during Plebe Parent's weekend. It might be a good idea for the parents to set up a meeting time so they can meet people from CC.

I would be interested.

Count me in!

I do not contribute much as S is a plebe, but would love to meet, and thank those who shared their wisdom thru this process.

Should we choose a restaurant or location and meet there??

I think people held up signs and met at Tecumseh around 1300 on that Saturday...I can't remember.

I prefer to meet when we don't have our plebes. I have no idea how my son will feel and suspect he will want to leave the yard immediately. I don't want to schedule a meeting for him without his knowledge that he may or may not want to attend.

I agree. I plan to arrive in Annapolis ~7 AM Friday. What about meeting just before noon formation, or perhaps on Saturday just before the parade?

We're arriving Thursday evening, staying at the Westin. We are available to meet either of the times you suggest.

I'm so excited for this trip!

Is anyone on here the parent of MIDN2012? If so, please private message me.

Breakfast at chick and ruths

my new favorite restaurant

That will work if there aren't too many of us. Chick's isn't too big. I have no idea how many we'll get responding to this!

Chick and Ruth's...is that the place on...Main Street? Little Deli (delly?)?

Breakfast what day? Friday? Saturday? (what time do we get our plebes on Saturday?)

Sorry for all the questions!

chick and ruths is too small for any kind of gathering.

Friday evening. YOu migh have a bit of time between parade at noon and rlease later that day.

Saturday. You might have some time before or around noon.

I'm telling you . . . go to Galway Bay Irish Pub [63 Maryland St.] straight away from gate 3.

I have no interest in the pub and will not be at your meeting but it is a good place, convenient to the yard, and has ample space for a small gathering. The food/snacks are reasonably priced, the beer is cold, and the crowd welcoming; you will be away from the madhouse on West street, removed from the circle and still w/in walking distance of the yard.

For a quick gathering, you can't beat it.

Just a recommendaiton.

Even if we don't try to meet there as a group, you really should visit Chick and Ruth's some time. They are long time Plebe sponsors, with many pictures of Mids on the walls. I haven't made it yet for their daily Pledge of Allegiance, but I have heard that it is very special, particularly for Mid parents.

I don't know if Galway Bay is open much before noon, but depending on time of day for a meeting, it's a nice place with the space to handle a larger group. The food is good and reasonably priced at either place.

I was just kidding about Ruth and Chicks. Is it possible to seat more than 4 people together anywhere in the place? I've never been on the upper level.

The "upper level" is the ScottLaur Inn B&B. No tables except for the balconies!

There is an upstairs in the back of the restaurant that has about six tables.

Plebes have to be back on Friday night at what time? 10p. They will most likely want to be back by 9p or earlier; trust us on this.
That would be a good time to meet.
If they have until midnight, then never mind.

On Saturday, will they be permitted an overnight this year? Who knows. But, if not, this provides another opportunity.

THEN, Sunday evening, if you choose to stay unitl 6p and watch the formation that evening, you will probably be too late to catch most outbound flights from BWI. Another opporunity.

I have heard from some that wen to a gathering two years ago that they met at th eSevern Inn, just across the bridge from USNA, but that will require driving and losing a coveted parking space.

Bill has an interesting idea about Sunday evening. Many of us will want to commiserate with each other after PPW; why not do it in person, right after Sunday's formation?

Aargh! We will be leaving asap on Sunday. We may take him back early. We have a 6 1/2 hour drive ahead of us and my husband has to be at work on Monday.
