First time posting on this forum.

In high school, I was a horrible student. All I did was party and brush school off. I regret that now. This is why I am attending a CC. I am trying to attend UF. I am looking to declare Food sciences: dietetics major. I am forced to stay here (CC) another year to get my pre reqs, because I was told by an advisor to get chemistry at the transfer school. My goal is to become a physician assistant.

Current GPA is 3.7 and getting better.

EC:
Phi Theta Kappa treasurer
Phi Theta Kappa assistant president
Work study in student development at current CC
Tutor at current CC
And others that do not come to my mind.

What can I do to better my chances to get into UF. I am talking to a professor who taught a nutrition course that I was in and see if I can shadow/volunteer with her.

My issue:

The first year at my CC I was placed into non-college classes (refresher courses) and I was forced to withdraw/fail because of health issues of mine and my family. I had severe depression and my mom and grandmother were going through chemo. A year later, my grandmother passed. That is when I started to work my butt off for what I wanted. I understand that the courses are not a part of GPA/my degree, but I don't know if UF will look at that and be disgusted.

My other issue, right now I am taking 3 courses in summer. A&P 2 lecture (3ch), A&P 2 lab (1ch), and humanities. The humanities is a 6 week course and the instructor is horrible. I would get an C or B in the class, but that takes away from A&P 2. I want to withdraw from Humanities and take it another semester. Would this be a bad idea? I was expecting humanities to be an A.
