CC to UCLA OR ANY OTHER UCLA

Hi, I am a CC student whose been going to CC for 2 yrs now and I finished the IGETC and did the Honors program to get TAP Certified. I havent finish all my major course but 3/9 done. I have a 3.65 gpa, can you tell me my chances of getting into UCLA (primary) or any other UC's? PS: I am also in Alpha Gamma Sigma and Phi Theta Kappa, I am just an active member not in any officer positions. I have done 20 hrs of community service at Boys and Girls Club and I also worked in a orphanage for mentally challenged kids in Mexico with my Church Mission Group. I've had a job as a tutor for two bright kids but had to quit because I needed to concentrate on my studies. also pre-dental major.

SORRY TYPO AT THE HEADER

What major are you applying to UCLA and the other UC’s, since there is no such thing as a pre-dental major.

biochemistry major.

Yeah I definitely would write a very compelling essay, because Biochemistry is a really hard major to get into. I know some people with 3.8 that didn’t get into UCLA…

ask your english professors for help! this is where your writing matters

Ohh okay I understand, I just have to try to write a really good essay.
Thanks for the advice

biochem is not a really hard major to get into. i believe the acceptance rate is somewhere around 50% with the average gpa being around a 3.5. as long as you have all your pre-req’s done, i think you should be fine.

sorry iambeowulf you are incorrect.

Biochemistry admit rate is w/ an average 3.77 gpa.

Cc to ucla or other ucla?!

P.s. your chances are slim! Good luck!

I’d say slim just because of the prerequisites. But GPA is pretty okay, regardless if the average is a 3.7.

I also believe that the ones with above 3.7 could have not completed the prerequisites. Like 2/9 prereqs with a 4.0.

We also don’t know if there are people with complete prereqs and a 3.4

So don’t trip about the GPA! Do your prereqs and get good grades in them :)

Also, join more extra curricular activities because even if you get a high GPA, it doesn’t matter because you would have nothing to support that GPA. And working while in college is a good thing too.

Ecs are overrated for UC admission. Don’t work if you don’t have to

Guys Really appreciate the advice you guys are giving me.
Thanks

I know two people that had a 3.8 and a 4.0 and had absolutely no clubs and didn’t get into UCLA or Cal.

You need extra curricular activities or else they think you aren’t well rounded.

@ddt525

First all all, i’d make sure your “friends” had their prereqs finished. Secondly, a lack of ECs (and life in general) will shine most glaringly in your essay. I would bet a million dollars to toledo that their essays were trash.
I had one semester of community service and a one club officer position, and I got into both ucb and ucla with less than a 3.8 so…
Sure if you do nothing your time in college and have nothing to say then yeah you wont look like a good candidate, but you can EASILY explain away lack of ECs.
This specific student, given the info he/she has given is fine.

Ecs are overrated on this board for UC admissions.

Wow admissions sounds really tough for biochem majors, glad I’m applied math and didn’t have to get a 3.8 with millions of ECs.

So for me to get into UCLA is to get my gpa up to 3.8 and do more ECs to make my app shine?

With TAP You are fine with the GPA you have given you complete your prereqs.

Will the tap help me get into ucla with the gpa i have?

Bumb bumb buumb
