Hey All,

I am applying to transfer into UCLA's Chemical Engineering program for Fall 2012.

By spring 2012 I will have all pre-reqs. completed except for one math class (Linear Algebra) and a one physics class (mechanics and electricity will be completed).

My GPA should be around a 3.7 by the time I am done with all my work here at the CC (3.65 atm).

Also, I would like to mention that I tutor chemistry to students on campus and that I am active in the chem/math club (officer positions held).

How badly will not having those two classes completed hurt my chances?

Thanks for your time.

If you go to their engineering website, it says that students who are missing two or more of the prerequisites are unlikely to get in. I got in as a Computer Science major with a 3.9 GPA and missing one of the required Physics course. Since your GPA is a bit below the average of the Chemical Engineering majors who were admitted, I would definitely recommend completing all the prerequisites if you can.

I was accepted to UCLA engineering this year. UCLA engineering is the KING of pre-reqs. The department wants students to be completely prepared for their major once they transfer. Missing 1 pre-req might be fine if you have competitive gpa, but missing two is an auto rejection, I can guarantee. I would recommend taking as many prereqs as possible. btw, you only need minimum of one GE course for admission.
