CC Weathers Notification Day!

I thought I’d let you know about something that DIDN’T happen. Every year, we anticipate a big traffic surge when the Ivies and other elites post their results. And every year, at least since the schools began simultaneous online posting, we’ve been troubled by outages and slowdowns due to unprecedented traffic.

Yesterday was 2011’s big day. (I hope y’all had at least SOME good news!) OUR good news at CC was that the site ran smoothly despite record traffic levels!

Accomplishing that took months of preparation by our techies - new servers, rewritten code, etc. Developers, network engineers, system engineers all worked long hours (often in the wee hours on weekends) to ensure CC stayed up and running yesterday. (Believe it or not, we had 50 servers running yesterday to cope with the traffic.) Huge thanks to everyone involved for this great effort - it really paid off!

And best wishes to all of our students who are now firming up their plans for the Fall! No doubt nearly everyone got some disappointing news, but I’m sure there was some good news too. And it’s good to know that even though lots of students don’t get into their original first choice school, the huge majority end up happy and satisfied at the school they do attend! Best wishes from all at CC!

I remember last year’s crash. It was extremely frustrating for everyone. Thanks for going the extra mile to ensure it did not happen again this year!

Having experienced at least three of the past “blackouts” I was quite pleasantly surprised at yesterday’s non-occurrence. Thank you Roger for a job well done.

Great job! It was great to be able to read everyone’s news. Thanks.

yayy good job!

Great job dude.
