I'm the guy who has an Incomplete in calc2 and am going to take the final next week at SMC. I can get a "B", but it is gonna be really hard cuz SMC math classes are so F'ing hard. In case i do get a "C", i'm going to ask my professor for a "D" and retake that class at someother CCC. I wanted to ask which CCC in the Los angeles area should i take this class. At SMC, no Math professors allow you to have notes on exams (Doesn't make sense to me; don't see how memorizing every calc. formula is gonna help a bizecon major). I was thinking LACC, but maybe they don't let you have notes on exams either.

visit the webpages of nearby CCs ==> look up professor who is teaching calc 2 for the term you want ==> point your browser to ratemyprofessor.com ==> take the easiest professor

Just avoid the Asian math teachers and Nestler at SMC. Hmm, I see MacDonald is teaching math 8 this summer and he's supposedly reasonable. If you take math 8 at SMC, I will be your personal online tutor. :D

Took him for math 7 and got a "C", he doesn't allow notes on exams. Ratemyprofessor.com is a good source but i learned to not trust it for math courses. As long as i can have notes (to be specific: hard to remember formulas and all the conv. diver. tests for infinite series), and the professor doesn't test on problems not covered in the HW, I will get at worst a "B". I think all the calc. professors at SMC are difficult because all of them 1)dont allow notes 2) give you test questions that were never covered in the HW problems (meaning you have to deeply understand the concepts). Just wanted to note, I use to love math (algebra, algebra2, geometry, and even pre-cal). I even got the Golden-state award in h.s. for math. But i learned to hate it ever since i started calc1 at smc. More advice plz.

If you want easy, you can get it at El Camino to the south, LACC to the east, WLA to the southeast, Mt. Sac to the far far east...

Just avoid SMC, PCC :D

Thx for the info. So does anyone know if LACC or WLA calc professors allow notes on exams, and if they give you test questions they pulled out of their arses? I want to enroll ASAP before my options become more limited. HELP!!!! LMAO

HELP!!!!!!!!! LMAO I just enrolled in macdonald's class just in case. I really hope i don't have to see his face, or his blue sweatshirt w/trapezoids he wears everyday (no joke, i think it's brown now). LMAO.

bump
There has to be someone who has taken calc 2 exams w/notes at a LA area CC.

which calc 2 are you talking about? business calc 2 or the harder one?

reg. calc 2. LOL. If it was bus calc, i wouldn't even be posting this topic.

bump.
AHHHHHHHH!!! HEALLLPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!

study these i guess

Since I have no other options and summer school starts next, next week, i'm just gonna retake it at SMC if worst happens.

Are you ready for you fnal, McChowder?

hahaha, no. I'm in a not-so-good situation. Been trying to find housing in irvine but others have had a head-start. Finally found a awesome roommate, but we are not sure if we will get the 2bed/2bath that's on the top of our list. Todolist:
1)send app. for the housing me and rm want.
2)look for other potential rm's in case we dont get it (1+ rm=cheaper rent and better college experience)
3)look for other places to live
4)study 4 final (only 7 days left)

Are you just giving up on UCLA?

LOL. Yea pretty much. Cuz I didn't graduate from UCLA doesn't affect my job/network/grad. school opportunities. I'm told that doing well at UCI would not be much different from doing well at UCLA. Doesn't take a genius to analyze my situation.
"B" in cacl2+appeal=at best 50/50 chance (like to add their decision would come earliest at end of June, and that the chances are probably more like slim to none)
OR
UCI=100%

I think i'll choose UCI. I'm making the rite decision in planning for UCI. Want to ensure my experience at UCI is the best it can be.

what did ucla tell u mcchowder? did u end up asking them why they made your gpa low?

calc makes my head hurt.

does anybody know when the last day to register for PCC is?
