<p>Ive been thinking about whether CCC will impact my opportunities for grad school and the only thing I can think of is research opportunities. Is there any way to get into research in a CCC, I have previous experience in research (from high school) & am DEMANDING a 4.0 of myself. Do most people have lab experience by their junior year in college? Im a math major. </p>

<p>Community college professors typically do not conduct research, but you could look for research opportunities at a nearby university (some Cal State professors, and most UC professors, would be conducting research) and travel there to volunteer. You may also have some research institutes nearby where you could do research.</p>
<p>I think typically people start their research experiences in their junior year, but you will be more competitive if you start earlier. Also, aim for as high a GPA as you can get, but don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get a 4.0. They are rare in college.</p>
<p>Yeah, ill be beating myself up TRUST me. But I should be in the bay area so Ill be near NASA Ames, and UC Berkeley (the school im trying to xfer to). I realize that 4.0s are rare, but that doesn’t make them impossible…especially if I stick out from the crowd (like I do in my calculus courses im taking at Mira Costa).</p>

<p>^ I was about to say that math majors don’t normally have much “lab experience” before they apply to grad school, but that’s irrelevant now. :)</p>
<p>Yeah, but ill be going to.a CCC in the bay area so I can get internships (including, possibly, NASA Ames 
) at CCCs with high transfer rates. Oh and this may be a bit OT but sorry I didn’t get back to you my phone wont let me reply to PMs and I couldn’t remember how to spell your name.</p>
