CCC to UC: summer courses? not allowed for major?

I was told that if you are planning to transfer to a UC this fall, the only summer courses you may take are those for the UC breadth requirements (or self-fulfillment). It is because upon acceptance, you may not take courses that will fulfill lower division requirements for your major, such as those outlined in ASSIST.

Is that true? What if you are planning to change your major, or are planning to minor?

My situation:
Either change my major to Classics, or minor in Classics. There are only two lower division courses that are articulated between the CCCs I attend and the UCs I've applied to. Problem: the only time I have to take them is this summer.

Advice?

(With this, of course, my total units will not exceed 90 semester units. It will be more around 75.5 or 76 units. That's not too risky either, is it? hehe).

Thanks everyone!

After 70 units, u just get subject credit, whatever that means.

thanks highschoolda, anyone else?

I was informed that at least for UCLA, summer school this summer would not be counted at all.

Each UC campus is different. Email the admissions office with your specific question.

And as far as UCLA is concerned, they do not accept summer classes on your application. They will take the class when you matriculate but you won't get credit for it on your application. This is not the case with every UC.
