If you attend CCPA is there no way to be involved in something other than theatre along with theatre? Also, in the musical theatre-voice emphasis major is there an audition for acting and dance too? Do you train in all three areas if you get into the school? Thanks!
It is a very focused conservatory type program with most of the classes required so you would have a very hard time minoring in anything else. MT voice majors take acting with the acting majors for the first two years as well as extensive dance (though not as much as the MT dance kids). My son is a sophomore acting major there so feel free to PM me if you have questions.
My D is a sophomore MT-voice major. (Hi Jkelly!) The audition consisted of a vocal warm-up with one of the voice teachers, a song, a monologue, a brief Q and A and a dance call. There is one gen ed required every semester, but the rest of the classes are acting, voice, dance and tech related. No real time for a minor. D takes lots of dance and acting classes in addition to her MT voice classes. Her schedule also includes a weekly private voice lesson. I too would be happy to answer any questions you may have!
I just auditioned for CCPA MT Voice Emphasis. Didn’t get in but it’s okay. The audition was a dance call, two contrasting monologues and two 32 bar cuts I believe. All of their audition requirements are available on their website. You can also find the lists of classes you take in every major on the website as well. Two of my closest friends just got accepted there and will be attending next year for MT Voice. It’s a great program!
What was the hardest part of the audition?
