I’m auditioning for CCPA as a musical theater major with voice emphasis, and am wondering what the dance audition is like? I have a few years here and there of dance experience, but have never taken serious ballet or tap classes. Can anyone give a little insight to the process? Thank you!

My daughter auditioned last week and Luis Perez said to think of it as a free movement call. It wasn’t difficult and it was a lot of fun. I could hear the kids laughing a lot. Break a leg, but more importantly, have fun!!

My D is a freshman in MT-voice this year. She says dance call is not difficult and there was no tap. She says they “just want to see if you know how to move”. I remember them coming out of the room laughing at Luis and his “colorful” language. Once you are in the program, there is a ballet assessment and you are placed where you need to be. Obviously for the MT-Dance emphasis there is a separate dance audition which is much more rigorous.
