To anyone with knowledge of the Quebec CEGEP system.
I’m currently attending a CEGEP in Montreal and I’m looking to apply at a prestigious Uni in the US like NYU or Wharton
What requirements would I need considering I’m an international student and how high should my R-score be?
Thanks!

I did not go through the CEGEP system. I did however do high school in Quebec and university in the US and can give a few observations.
First of all, graduating from university in the US does NOT give a student the ability to stay and work in the US. It does however make it a LOT more difficult to get a job in Canada. This can be a rather ugly and unfortunate combination for Canadians graduating from US universities.
University in the US is expensive, and financial aid is very difficult to get for international students.
Personally, I consider NYU and Wharton to be very good schools. However, I don’t consider them as being even equal in prestige to McGill. There are obviously a lot of other very good universities in Canada which will be a lot less expensive than comparable US schools (figure on something like US$200,000 difference in cost between a US and a Canadian university).
We live in the US, but are about to have a dual-citizen daughter go the other way (high school in the US, university in Canada). We are very happy with the excellent choices available up there.
I would like to correct my wording a bit in my post #2 above. In the fourth paragraph I should have said “Personally, I consider NYU and Wharton to be very good schools. However, I wouldn’t pick either of them over McGill on academic grounds”. I think that I should not have used the word “prestige” since to me this isn’t a sensible way to pick a school.
