Cell phone reception

Hey, for anyone who's at UCLA now, what cell phone carrier do you use and how's the reception with it? I know that when I was there I couldn't get any reception inside the materials science building w/ my Cingular service, but it seemed to work fine everywhere else.

I have Verizon. I worked really well at the beginngin of the year, but it seems to have gotten worse. In the dorms it drops calls all the time, on campus its pretty good.

I'm using T-Mobile. Reception isn't that great indoors. I usually get 3/7 "bars" when I'm sitting at my desk in De Neve, and I have to go to the window to get good reception. Outside I usually get 7/7 bars on campus, in Westwood and downtown LA. When I went to NorCal, the reception was more sparse; I had 7/7 bars on the Stanford campus, but only 1/7 bars on the UCB campus. The only reason I didn't pick Verizon was because there wasn't a Verizon retailer in Westwood, while there was a T-Mobile one within walking distance.

type-o, get it upgraded. i use verizon and it has no problems until like last month i got a ton of drop calls, so i went to a verizon store to get it upgraded and now it works fine. verizon supposedly has a monopoly over good connection at ucla.

I was thinking of going t-mobile so I could go to one of those shady asian retailers and get a really really good deal on a nice phone w/ mp3 + PDA capabilities so I wouldn't need to carry around an mp3 player.

Oh I didn't know you can get it upgraded. Is it free?

mine was free. i think it was because i've had my cell phone for under a year.

alright i've had mine since August... thanks
