My daugther is an entering freshman who will be living in Lee dorm. We are considering whether to switch our current cell carrier when she goes to college. We now have T-Mobile. Are there cell phone carriers that have particularly good or particularly bad cell reception in the dorms (Lee specifically). Thank you.

i'm planning on sticking with t-mobile. it's what i have now and what the cellular connections store on campus deals.

Well, thats encouraging that the campus store sells t-mobile. Thank you. Any comments from current students?

check the livejournal.com thread for washington U theres alot of info on the dorms and on cell phone reception in them

My son lived in Lee his freshman year, and he had no problem with T-mobile reception. Hope this is the biggest problem you have!!

To current students and/or parents:

In general, what is the best, most reliable service on campus? I currently have Verizon and am considering a switch to either T-Moblie, Cingular, or Sprint. When I was on campus for an ArtSci weekend, i had NO service in Danforth (with my current Verizon phone).. I will be living in Umrath in the Fall - not sure that the particular dorm will matter - i want the best service overall, regardless of where I am on campus

Some people have recommended Cingular while others have suggested Sprint.. I had never heard that T-Mobile was good at WashU until reading this convo on CC. Thanks so much!

Feel free to PM me if necessary...

which t-mobile cell phones were you planning on getting? i'm trying to upgrade to a new one.

I never had any trouble getting service on campus or on the 40 with Sprint.. well, okay except the basement of Sever, but no one gets service there :) But I always had great reception in the dorms I was in (Beau, Shanedling, Park) and my friends dorms
