Cell Phones

do any of you current grinnellians have any input on what cell phone companies have the best reception/coverage at Grinnell? I have t-mobile currently, but i looked up their coverage map and Grinnell, surprisingly, did not appear to be on the map :(

just wondering what companies you all have, any input would be appreciated!

My daughter has Sprint and does not seem to have any problems getting service. You may want to get the same plan as your friends and family back home. I'm not sure that students use cell phones to call each other all that much.

thank you!

does anyone know if cingular gets coverage there?

My son is at Grinnell and he has Cingular. It works fine.

We had cingular and it didn't work at all, switched to verizon which seems to be much better.

I have U.S. Cellular, and it works great here.

O goodness Sprint hated me while inside the dorms, although outside seemed to be fine. I have heard the verizon is pretty good there, but Sprint+Dorms=Crap-ola in the ointment of life.

there are some dead spots but all in all it seems to be pretty reliable. I was worried that the phones said "extended network" but we have not been billed for any roaming charges since August.

My daughter was surprised to learn that I could actually call her on the land line in her room!

Most of the kids there seem to communicate with each other via cell phones. Oh, and facebook.

I have tmobile and it works fine. it is actually on their network...so to speak. tmobile can roam for free on some networks. so that good plan with all the minutes you think you cant get because you wont have service in grinnell? well, you will. the only place my phone doesnt get good reception is going up the stairs in norris, which honestly i could care less about.

if you have tmobile and you dont want to bother switching, dont, your service will be fine.
