cell service at Sewanee

<p>Is it true there is no cell phone service at Sewanee? My son is not interested in visiting for this reason and I just wanted to make sure it was fact and not fiction.</p>

Cell Phone Service
Cingular receives the best service of all cell phone carriers on the Mountain. However, other carriers like Verizon receive service in the surrounding towns of Monteagle and Winchester.</p>

<p>My son (a junior) isn't a "phone junkie" and sticks with prepaid services. We have found that Net 10 and TracFone both get good service on the mountain. I can report that T-Mobile and Virgin Mobile did not work at all, at least as of last year. My T-Mobile phone works fine at Monteagle (which is right on the Interstate) but enters a "zone of silence" once on the Domain. Of course, service and accessibility change all the time, YMMV.</p>

<p>Sprint is pretty much non-functional in Sewanee.
Cingular seems not to give anyone problems.</p>
